Janet Rusher Embry, 90, of Whitesville passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She was born in Ohio County on May 14, 1933 to the late Robert and Bertha Crowe Rusher. She was a member of Whitesville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James Embry, a grandson, Brandon Parker, a great-great-granddaughter, Nora Mills, 2 sons-in-law, Johnnie Wright and Bryce Ford and 10 siblings.
Janet is survived by her children, Roxanna Wright, James W (Sharon) Embry, Gene (Theresa) Embry and Robert “Bobby” Embry; 8 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Kathryn Boling.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with burial following at Cates Cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday February 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville.
