
Francisco “Frank” Amaya, 88, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on February 9, 2024 after a short illness. Frank was born on September 16, 1935 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Martina Coronado Amaya and Eduardo Amaya. Frank proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. It is in the Army that he learned skills which would lead to his career as a surveyor and draftsman at Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry. He would go on to work as a draftsman and quality control specialist at Modern Welding Company, where he retired after nearly 30 years. He was a member of Stanley Masonic Lodge 878. Frank was a Third Degree Mason and served as one of the officers in the Lodge. He and his friend Steve “Chief” Rogers traveled to visit different Masonic Lodges in the state.
Frank’s family includes his daughters Tammi Flynn and her husband Sean from Norwich, Connecticut and Vickie Olsen Michael and her husband Bing from Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the middle of nine siblings, Lenora and the late Keithel Carter, the late Virginia and the late Roy Lancaster, Edward and Norah Amaya, Jr., Matilda Amaya, Amelia Amaya, David and Kay Amaya, Jesse and Susie Amaya, Mary Alice Amaya and uncle to twenty nieces and nephews, most of whom live in Texas. Special friends include Bonnie Fuchs, Lee Moore, and the family of his late friend Stevie Ray Evans. He resided at the Roosevelt House for nearly 20 years where he had many friends and lived a full and happy life fishing and feeding squirrels. His family is grateful to the staff at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care and compassion they provided during his last days.
There will be no services. James H. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of his arrangements.
