James Samuel Beckner

January 27, 1957 - February 27, 2019

James Samuel Beckner, 66, of Owensboro, passed away Feb. 27, 2019, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born Jan. 27, 1957 in Dearborn, MI to the late James R. and Naoma Gilland Beckner. James was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a Mason and a Shriner clown who was known as “Strings.” During his time as a Shriner, he was the transport coordinator. James loved to cook and make people laugh; everyday he made sure to give “hugs” through text message to those most dear to him. He will be remembered as a wonderful man who had a ministering heart.

James was preceded in death by his Godson, E. Allen Daugherty Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Teresa Beckner; son, James M. (Angie) Beckner of Trenton, MI; grandchildren, Deseree (Joe) Moranz , and Peyton Webb; great-grandchildren, Aubriella and Andrew Moranz, and Chanell Webb; brothers, Bennie (Debbie) Beckner and Joseph Beckner; sisters, Patricia (Nick) Sourant, Elissa Fulton, and Debbie Greer; his adopted family, Alicia Daugherty and Aletheia (Dan) Kluesner; and several nieces and nephews. His family would like to give a special thanks to his lifelong friend, Chuck Kayson, for his support and friendship.

There will be a reception to celebrate the life of James on Saturday, March 2, from 1pm until 4pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Beckner.
