Joseph Edward Janecek, age 86 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away January 15, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Forest Grove, Oregon on August 27, 1937, son of the late Carolyn Roberts and William John Janecek. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1975 – 2001 and retired with the rank of MSGT. Following the end of his military service, he began his job as a supply clerk with Civil Service. Joe was a former deacon and member of New Bethel Baptist Church, He enjoyed driving on the farm in his gator, feeding deer and wildlife in his backyard, playing computer games, reading books by his favorite author Nora Roberts and visiting the library. He loved his grandchildren and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katie Janecek, daughter Pam Janecek and siblings James and John Janecek.
Joe is survived by 7 grandchildren: Jacqueline Janecek (Eddy) and Jocelyn Robinson of Custer, KY; Jennifer Brown (JD); Jason Janecek (Julie); Jessica Janecek (Danny Dowell) and Julianna Janecek of Hardinsburg, KY; Jillian Janecek of Elizabethtown, KY
17 great grandchildren: Eddy, Joseph, Eric, Eddric and Eriana Vicentes; Justin and Jacob Brown; Ian, Tatum and Levi Watson; Liam Dixon; Justice Janecek; Jaxon and Jordan Smiley; Joley, Jody and Jesse Robinson
special friends: Edward Virgin and Richard Kinney
Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11 AM – 1 PM. Burial with military honors will be in the New Bethel Cemetery.
