Mildred Payne Clark, 96, of Owensboro died Friday, January 12, 2024, at her home. She was born in Daviess County, on March 4, 1927, to the late Hubert and Rose Clark Payne. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Clark; her son, Jim Clark; her sisters, Mary Alice Turner and Ethel Payne; her brothers, Gerard, Leo, Ivan, Tom, Paul, and Bernard Payne; and a great-granddaughter, Star Rosalia Lechler.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Cindy Sheehan of Lancaster, Ohio, Renee (David) McNulty of Louisville, KY, Ruth Clark, and Janet (Darrell) Nix of Owensboro, KY; her brother, Tony Payne (Theresa) of Owensboro; her daughter-in-law, Yoko Clark of Japan; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, with Father John Vaughan. Burial to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in St. Joseph, KY. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at Immaculate Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by memorial contribution to Spiritual Bouquet in the form of Catholic Mass, or by charitable donations made payable to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
