James Luther Cummins, 86, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. He was born June 3, 1937 in Ohio County to the late Darrell and Evelyn Edualey Cummins. James retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church. Luther was a huge KWC sports fan and a member of the All American Club for many years. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Hillcrest, especially his good buddy, David Tong, for their compassion and caring ways over the past nine years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Loretta Cummins in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Kenneth, Lucille, Hugh Morton and nephew, John Cummins.
He is survived by a brother, Edmond (Eddie) Cummins; sister, Nancy Frame and brother-in-law, Roy Williams, along with several special nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at noon on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Richland Baptist Church Cemetery in Livermore, officiated by Rev. Eddie Duke. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
