Bernadette J. Melton, 94, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born April 29, 1929, in Daviess County to the late Raphael Johnson and Julia Wathen Johnson. Bernadette retired from General Electric.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Farest Melton; son, David Melton; daughter-in-law, Betty Melton; sisters, Martine York, Mary Edna Payne, Rose Ann Roberts, Winifred Roby, and Eunice Corley; and brothers, Owen Johnson, Vincent Johnson, and Lawrence Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Bernard Melton; daughter, Marilyn White (Gary); daughter-in-law, Montez Payne; six grandchildren, David Melton (Penny), Holly Hart (Michael), Kristi Kirby (Josh), Chad Bolin, Echo Sherwood (Nick), and Nicole Garrison (Jamie); seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Fulkerson.
Funeral arrangements were private with the burial in St. William Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Cecil Funeral Home, Whitesville.
