
Rev. Dannie R. Overton, 75 of Beaver Dam, Kentucky gained his Heavenly reward on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 surrounded by his family at Ohio County Healthcare. He was born on April 24, 1948 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky to the late Walter G. and Mamie Bratcher Overton. Prior to his call to ministry, Brother Overton served six years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge. In 1969, he answered the call to ministry and was credentialed. He became an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God in 1983, and served as pastor over many congregations throughout Kentucky, most recently, he served as Pastor of Horse Branch Church of God. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a jack of all trades. He was an amateur flat top guitarist and a certified Hunter Education Instructor.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William D. “Bill” Overton, three siblings, Marjorie Key, Wesley C. “Buck” Overton, Charlie Dean Overton and two infant siblings.
He leaves behind to cherish many precious memories, his wife of 56 years, Wanda Daugherty Overton of Beaver Dam; one son, Jeremy R. (Dawn) Overton of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Ava RayAnn Overton and Jaxten Ray Overton both of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jewel (Cathy) Daugherty of Beaver Dam and nieces and nephews, Joyce (James) Crump of Beaver Dam, Lannie D. (Judy) Overton of Elizabethtown, Charles C. (Renee) Overton of Jacksonville, Illinois, Jimmy (Sherry) Daugherty of Beaver Dam and Janet (Arthur) Coulter of Hartford.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Roy Smith and Dr. Oliver Subryan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam with Military Honors provided by the PFC Wesley C. Phelps Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Brother Overton’s family from 10 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
