Ann Cates Tanner, 87, of Henderson, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson. She was born in Henderson to the late Abner and Alva Bailey Cates.
Ann graduated as valedictorian of both her class at Henderson High School and the Kentucky Wesleyan College Class of 1957. She worked as a medical lab technologist and loved gardening.
She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher William Tanner in 2001; a sister, Janice Claire Cates Johnston; and a brother, Donald Abner Cates.
Ann is survived by a son, Patrick S. Tanner of Owensboro; step-daughters, Pamela Tanner Hardy and Darby Tanner Rickard (Daryl); grandchildren, Hannah Jayne Tipton Burns (Brad), Nathan Rickard, Melanie Dale, Stephanie Calero and Derek Tomer; nieces and a nephew.
A service will be held at 2:00, Friday, December 29 in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
