Frances Louise Coon Mahaney, 93, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Stanley, Kentucky on December 16, 1929, to the late Oda Lee and William Alice Traughber Coon.
Frances enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and working in her flower garden. She retired from Commercial Filters, and from there went on to work at Perry County Memorial Hospital, where she worked in housekeeping. Frances was a former member of the VFW, Legion, and Eagles.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Walter Paul Mahaney; her second husband William “Bill” Riney; her sons, Walter “Buddy” Mahaney and Larry Wayne Mahaney; her siblings, Thomas Traughber, Dorothy May Gootee, Mary Margaret Conley, Dallas Coon, James Coon, and Helen Grant; and son-in-law, Phil Simpson.
Frances is survived by her children, Carolyn Simpson, Tony (Linda) Mahaney, James Mahaney, Dwayne Mahaney, and Kevin (Charlene) Mahaney; and former daughter-in-law, Linda Mahaney; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will commence at 10:00 am on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, as well as on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 8:00 am until the time of the service.
