Dorothy Lane Cotton, 80, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born December 5, 1943 to the late William and Odessa Powers Lane. Dorothy was a retired supervisor of housekeeping for Owensboro Daviess County Hospital and also worked at Leisure Years Nursing Home.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Earl Cotton; daughter, Sharon Cotton Raley; grandson, Dale Yonts; sister, Anna Lee Dockery; and a brother, Robert Lane.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Charlie Vickers and Earlene and John Docimo; a son, Ivan Cotton; ten grandchildren, Lyndsay Gaynor, Britney Kirtley, Kevin Yonts, Amanda White, Jeff Cotton, Kendra Hazelip, Ronnie Cotton, Jaclyn Beckham, and Stephanie Orth; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Margaret Browning (James) and Leona Wathen; brothers, Sam Lane (Sonja) and Joe Lane (Tammy); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
