Katherine D. “Kathy” Payne, 49, of Owensboro, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born April 29, 1974, in Owensboro, to Daniel W. Payne Sr. and Joyce Gray Peercy. Kathy enjoyed camping, swimming, motorcycle riding, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. When Kathy was younger, she was the poster child for the Green River District March of Dimes and was selected as an Honorary Page in the House of Representatives Program.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William Earl and Flo Ella Gray and Bessie Nugent.
Kathy is survived by a daughter, Brettleine D. Hulsey; stepdaughter, Kayla (Cody) Badgett and Bianca (Andrew) Pierce; grandson, Cyrus Moffitt; step-grandson, Maddyx Pierce; her parents, Joyce Gray Peercy and Daniel and Jane Payne; brothers, Danny (Tina) Payne and Doug (Lisa) Payne; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service for Kathy will be held noon Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Matt Goatee officiating. Entombment will follow in Christ Chapel in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
