
Seldon Earl Thomas, age 87, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at HPC Heartford House in Owensboro.
Born October 29, 1936, in Trigg County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Cecil Seldon Thomas and the late Dorothy Clark Thomas.
He was retired from the Owensboro Public School System where he was a science teacher. After his retirement he worked as a bus driver for Trigg County Schools for a number of years and was also a charter bus driver, which afforded him the opportunity to travel, one of his many passions. As a deeply devoted University of Kentucky basketball fan, Seldon spent countless hours cheering for the Wildcats and keeping meticulous stats for each game. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro and enjoyed playing church league softball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Judy Rimkus Thomas; son, Seldon Thomas, Jr.; daughter, Belinda Carol Miller; and brother, Dr. Reverend Bill Clark Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Skaggs Thomas of Lexington, KY; two daughters, Dawn Lambert and husband Josh of Owensboro, and Gretchen Thomas and husband Brian Green of Easton, CT; five grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Emma Lambert, Makinze Lambert, Alex Lambert, and Maddy Green; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Seldon Thomas and Kaitlyn Thomas.
Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with Rev. Bob Farmer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday. Private burial will be at Starkie Thomas Cemetery in Trigg County at a later time.
