James Lee “Jimmy” Cooper, 44, of Hawesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 17, 2023 at his home. He was born in Owensboro on January 27, 1979 to David and Karen Voyles Cooper. Jimmy was employed at Commonwealth Aluminum in the maintenance department and was a member of United Steelworkers Local #9443. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed anything outdoors. Jimmy was preceded in death by a grandchild, Alex Taylor Cooper.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 23 years, Edna Wethington Cooper; children, James Tyler (Amber) Cooper, Arthur Lee (Kirsten) Cooper, Emilee Saundra (Jeffery) Bernardi, Margaret Ella (Dakota Kennedy) Cooper and Shelby Sue Cooper; parents, David and Karen Cooper; grandchildren, Ollie, Lora, Oaklee, Kenzleigh, Jaxson & more on the way; sister, Tabitha (John) Edge; mother and father-in-law, Bernard and Margaret Wethington along with a niece and several nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with private family burial following in Cooper Cemetery.
