
Hugh Franklin Gaynor, 85, of Hawesville, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Heartford House. He was born in Hancock County on February 3, 1938 to the late Franklin and Rachel Wettstain Gaynor. Hugh was a member of Blackford Baptist Church and a veteran of The United States Army. He worked at American Cigar, NSA and was retired from Century Aluminum. Hugh enjoyed golfing, farming, bird hunting and U.K. Basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marcella Kincaid Gaynor; sons, Greg (Rachel) Gaynor, Gavin (Stacy) Gaynor and Gordon (Kasey) Gaynor; grandchildren, Layne, Gavin, Brett, Riley, Gracie and Grant; siblings, Darrell (Earline) Gaynor, Janet Johnson, Mary Taylor and Larry (Ellen) Gaynor along with several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Gibson and Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with inurnment following at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 am until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
