Richard Dale Browning, 66, of Owensboro, Kentucky died November 1, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Dale was born in Anniston, Alabama on July 24, 1957, to Billie Jo and Heflin Browning.
Dale and Laurie met when she was only 13 years old at church and of course, she was not old enough to date, but at the age of 16 Dale and Laurie began to date. In August of 1980, they married. They are blessed with 4 amazing children, Matthew (Amelia) Browning, Nathan (Carrie) Browning, Heather Browning Ditto, Dustin (Heather) Browning, and Jeremy Ditto.
Though he loved his children dearly, his greatest role was as “Papa.” He treasured his time with his grandchildren sharing his love for Alabama football, rock and roll music, especially Elvis, and his pride and joy, his 1972 Pontiac Lemans GT. His grandchildren include Kenlee, Cayden, Ashlynn, Bentlee, Brayden, Leecie, Natalee, Abel, Zoe, and Thomas.
He was also blessed to reconnect and bond with his sister, Melissa Gail Carmichael. Dale and Gail were able to spend time enjoying each other’s company, grilling, talking, and finding the sibling connection they had been missing.
Dale loved his small circle of friends and family, especially his brother-in-law, Tony (Sharon) Brown. He also cherished the times he got to spend with Perry Foster, Fred McCrady, Barry Woosley, and Jamie Gillim; their friendship never faltered. He was also loved by his mother-in-law, Barbara Mills and several cherished nieces and nephews.
Dale was employed by Kirchner Building Supply in Henderson. He absolutely loved his job and was good at what he did. He most enjoyed the interactions he had with the customers and the contractors.
