Nina Joyce Nave Shuler

Nina Joyce Nave Shuler, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on June 24, 1930, in Whitesville, Kentucky to the late William J. and Nina Weller Nave. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Daniel P. Shuler, Jr., a retired U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division Master Sergeant.

Joyce was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Greenwell, Catherine Greer, Frieda Farmer, Willie Billings, Max H. Nave, and Glyndon R. Nave.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Gary D. (Donna) Shuler, and twins, Daniel G. (Nancy) Shuler and Donald B. (Debbie) Shuler; one daughter, Sherrie Joy (Christopher) Swanberg. She was also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Shuler, Megan (Clint) Boling, Carri (Matt) Emmick, Justin Shuler, Daniel (Jessica) Swanberg, Sarahbeth (Michael) Cedillo, and Stephen (Lauren) Shuler; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Faith, family, and friends were the love of her life. Nina Joyce was a 1948 graduate of St. Francis Academy and attended Owensboro Business College. She was a 23-year retiree from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital and later worked for Danhauer Drug Store.

She was an ambassador of the Honorable Order of Lady Kentucky Colonels, Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to travel and visited many interesting places across the U.S.

She requests family and family and friends to not grieve her passing but remember the happy days we shared together on this Earth.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blessed Mother Catholic Church, 601 East 23rd Street, Owensboro, Kentucky 42303, and to the Senior Community Center, 1650 W. 2nd Street, Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Envelopes will be available at the Church.

Mass of Church Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Blessed Mother Catholic. Burial to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church.
