
Jerry Lee Rose, age 70 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away October 20, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Jefferson City, TN to Vacial and Lillian Rose.
Jerry was a career Marine and served in the United States Marine Corps for 30 years, 24 years active duty and 6 years in the reserves. He was in the infantry when he first enlisted, served as a Marine security guard at the American Embassy in Quito, Ecuador, where he learned to speak Spanish fluently. He was an air traffic controller and later taught in the air traffic control school in NAS Memphis, Millington, Tennessee. Jerry retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Following retirement from the Marine Corps he worked at Kimball International in Fordsville, where he was known as “Sarge”.
Jerry loved his home state of Tennessee, his children and grandchildren. He was an avid TN Volunteer fan, enjoyed reading books and walking his dogs. Jerry never met a stranger and always had a story to share. He enjoyed his time as a basketball referee in the 3rd and 5th regions.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marie Rose; his children Jonathon Rose (Becky) of Decatur, Georgia and Kimberly Rydecki (Brock) of Murray, Kentucky; his stepdaughter Christy Feldpausch (Tim Vogt) of Lewisport, KY; his grandchildren: Bryson, Bryant, Henry, Madison, Kyna, Kenny and Josh; his brother Jeff Rose and sister Debbie Ress of Minnesota.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard Rose and stepson Todd Newby.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A memorial mass will be scheduled soon and burial will be in east Tennessee with a graveside service for his family there.
