William “Bill” Byron Jones, 68, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home. He was born May 21, 1955 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Kenneth Jones and Wilma Alvey Jones. Bill served his country for 43 years in the U.S. Air Force, he retired after 21 years as a Master Sergeant E-7. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona and served as a DOD civilian for an addition 22 years. Bill was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Eaton Jones; children, Tori Kirkpatrick and Trenton Kirkpatrick; mother, Wilma Jones; and siblings, Linda Greer, Glenn Jones, Mike Jones, Lisa Thompson, and Steve Jones.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation is from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. and visitation after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
