Glen D. ‘Crow’ Conrad 93, of Rumsey, Kentucky passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford. Glen Dell ‘Crow’ Conrad was born on April 23, 1930 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Richard James ‘Rich’ and Sylvia Jane Campbell Conrad and was better known as ‘Crow’ to both his family and friends.
Crow was a life-long farmer, a vocation he pursued with dedication and pride. His love for the land was only matched by his commitment to his country. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Crow served his nation with honor and dignity. His service extended beyond his military career, as a dedicated member of the McLean County American Legion. His participation in the Legion was a testament to his unwavering patriotism and commitment to his fellow veterans.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Crow was a supporter of the University of Kentucky basketball and football teams. His love for the games was infectious, often gathering friends and family to cheer on his beloved Wildcats. Whether it was a thrilling victory or a heartbreaking loss, Crow’s spirit and enthusiasm never wavered.
More than anything, Crow loved spending time with his family and friends. He was the heart of every family gathering, always ready with a story or a joke to share. His presence was a constant source of joy and laughter, making every occasion a memorable one. His love for his family was evident in every interaction, and his devotion to his friends was unwavering.
In memory of Glen D. ‘Crow’ Conrad, we celebrate a life well-lived. His spirit, humor, and dedication to his family, friends, and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the values he instilled in his family and the love he shared with everyone he met. Crow’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of service, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. In addition to his parents, Crow was preceded in death by his brother, Vechel R. Conrad.
Crow’s legacy will continue through his four sons, Mark R. Conrad of Sacramento, Greg Conrad of Rumsey, Steven Conrad (Jeanette) of Central City, and Trent Conrad (Brandy) of Sacramento. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Baize officiating. Burial will be in the New Cypress Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5415. Friends may visit with Crow’s family from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
