
Steve Burden 77, of Utica, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his home in Utica. Stephen Boyd Burden was born December 13, 1945 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Harry and Louise Horton Burden and was married to the former Susan Faye Stevens July 6, 1966. Steve was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother whose life was marked by a devotion to his family, a strong work ethic, and a love for outdoor pursuits.
Steve’s professional life was defined by his career as a construction superintendent. His dedication to his work was evident in the many projects he supervised and completed during his tenure. Steve was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran, proudly serving his country and exemplifying the values of honor, duty, and loyalty that remained with him throughout his life.
In his leisure time, Steve enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting. He found peace and contentment in the great outdoors, and he loved sharing these experiences with his family and friends. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Steve’s family and friends will remember him for his warm smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Steve’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy lives on in the joy and love he brought to his family, the loyalty he displayed to his friends, and the lasting impact of his professional achievements. His life was a testament to the enduring power of love, friendship, and commitment. Steve Burden will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for his humble spirit, his gentle demeanor, and his genuine love for his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Ann Burden; by two brothers, Wayne Burden and Ray Burden; and by a sister, Mildred Buckner.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susan Burden, and their two sons, Stevie Burden of Utica and Adam Burden (Linda) of Owensboro. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and the great-grandfather of two. Steve is also survived by his siblings, Harry Burden (Carolyn) of Livermore, Mark Burden (Christy) of Sacramento, Kent Burden (Cindy) of Livermore, Sue Morris (Wayne, Sr.) of Livermore, Faye Dukes (Jim) of Utica, and Joyce Beck (Earnest) of Bowling Green.
Family services will be at a later date. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Steve’s family.
