
Colene Jennings, 98, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at her home on September 26, 2023. She was born November 16, 1924, in Huntsville, Kentucky to the late Andy and Beulah McKinney. Colene worked for G.E. and also co-owned with her husband, Virgil, for 20 years, “The Comet” restaurant on 3rd Street in Owensboro. She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. Colene was a member of the 4-H, she was a Kentucky Colonel and was one of the founders of the 1st spouse abuse center. In her spare time, Colene loved dancing and helping anyone in need.
Along with her parents, Colene was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil “Tommy” Jennings, Jr.; her children, Judy and Michael; and siblings, Jerry, Goodie, and Pete McKinney.
Colene is survived by her children, Paul Jennings and Kay Jennings; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ray (Shirley) Jennings, Sug (Joann) McKinney, and Louis Drake.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the funeral home.
