
Betty Sue Bowman 82, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Betty Sue Dickens was born November 9, 1940 in Island, Kentucky. She was the cherished daughter of the late William James and Clara Belle Poole Dickens. Betty Sue was the beloved wife of Terry Joe Bowman, to whom she was married for 62 years, since January of 1961.
Throughout her life, Betty Sue was a dedicated homemaker who created a nurturing and loving environment for her family. She was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love for her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know her. She was a living example of the values of family, love, and kindness.
Betty Sue was a devoted member of the Green Brier Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She was a woman of strong faith, who believed in the power of prayer and the strength of community. Her church family was a significant part of her life, and she cherished the bonds she formed there.
Her interests were simple and focused on the things that mattered most to her – her family and her home. She loved cooking and spending time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew her. Betty Sue had a gift for making everyone feel special and loved, and her home was always open to friends and family.
Betty Sue’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. She was a woman of grace and dignity, who lived her life with compassion and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her parents, Betty Sue was preceded in death by her brother, James Dickens.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Terry Joe Bowman. She was an adored mother to son, Tim Bowman (Barbara) of Utica and daughter, Tammy Sutherlin of Calhoun. Betty Sue was also a proud and loving grandmother to Nathan Sutherlin (Kelly), Eric Sutherlin (Brittany), Taylor Poole (Ethan), Rachel Reynolds (Elliot), and Bailee Lancaster (Jacob). She was blessed to have known her great-grandchildren, Maverick Sutherlin, Mason Sutherlin, Lavender Lancaster, Finnley Sutherlin, and Salem Reynolds. Betty Sue is also survived by her sister-in-law, Trish Blades (Tom), and her aunts, Grace Bishop and Glenna Tucker. She was a beloved family member who was known for her warm heart and caring nature.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Green Brier Cemetery in Daviess County. Friends may visit with Betty Sue’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Livermore.
