Jo Ann Sterett, age 68 of Garfield, KY passed away August 27, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on August 4, 1955, one of nine children born to the late Omer and Dorothy Adkins. Jo Ann was a member of Custer United Methodist Church. She retired from the Breckinridge County Board of Education after many years as a special education instructional assistant and bus driver. Prior to working for the school system, she worked 17 years for The Herald News. Jo Ann was very artistic – she enjoyed painting, drawing and crafts. Other interests include farming, sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, flower gardening and all things a homemaker would do. She loved to sing and play the guitar – a self taught talent.. She loved her family and life in general. She was always willing to offer a helping hand with a smile on her face.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mark Sterett.
Jo Ann is survived by 2 sons – Jason Sterett of Garfield, KY and Scott Sterett (Abby) of Fairfield, KY
5 grandchildren: Emma, Caden, Maddie, Landon and Adalee.
8 brothers and sisters: Steve Adkins (Rose), David Adkins (Elaine), Darrell Adkins (Karen), Don Adkins (Rhonda), Betty Heavrin (Jim) and Debbie Metcalfe (Steve) of Hardinsburg, KY; Judy Triplett (Tommy) of Brandenburg, KY and Danny Adkins of Sample, KY
Sister-in-law: Debbie White (Mark) of Humboldt, TN

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11 AM with burial in the Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 4-8 PM and Friday after 8:30 AM.
