Tresia Withers

Tresia Withers  73,  Tresia Gail Trunnell Withers, affectionately known as Tresia, passed away peacefully at her home in Island on August 20, 2023.  She was born on June 10, 1950, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, to the late Dal Trunnell and Dalsie Bishop Trunnell Sartain. Tresia was raised with love and warmth by Roxie and Henry Howard, who she held in high regard throughout her life.

Tresia was the beloved wife of David L. Withers for 51 years until his passing on May 13, 2020.  Their love story began on September 6, 1968, when they exchanged vows and embarked on a lifelong journey filled with love, companionship, and mutual respect.  Together, they raised their children with the same dedication and love they had for each other.  Tresia was a devoted mother to her late son, Kevin ‘Toe Joe’ Withers, who predeceased her on July 22, 2012, and her daughter, Sandra Stevens (Bo) of Island.  Her life was enriched by her grandchildren, Branden Evans (Kathryn), Spencer Martin (Cayla Allen), Courtney Blandford (Josh), and Sarah Stevens and her great-grandchildren, Gracie Wright, Macy Rose Martin, Weston Halbig, and Creed Blandford.  She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that they will hold dear forever.  Tresia is also survived by her sisters, Debbie Menser of South Carrollton and Vickie Humphrey of Buck Creek.

Tresia’s professional journey was as fulfilling as her personal life.  She retired as a teacher’s aid from Livermore Elementary School, where she was much more than an assistant.  Tresia was a caregiver to every student she met, nurturing their minds and hearts with her wisdom and warmth.  Her dedication to education and her gentle, caring nature made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children.

Tresia was a member of The Refuge Church in Central City.  Her faith was a significant part of her life, and she practiced it with devotion and sincerity.  She found solace in her faith, which guided her through the ups and downs of life.

Tresia had a zest for life and cherished the company of her family and friends.  She was a frequent participant in card games with her apartment friends, a pastime that brought her immense joy. Her warm smile and infectious laughter made her a cherished companion in these gatherings.
