Wayne Lee Meyer, age 78 of Lodiburg, KY passed away August 15, 2023 at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN. He was born in Louisville, KY on August 24, 1944, son of the late Janie Geneva Huff and Max Ernest Meyer. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired in 1999 from Crane Naval Weapons Support Center after 36 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, a foster parent to many children and a devoted husband and father. He loved his family, was a very hard worker and enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Donald, Russell, Harry, Larry, Alvin Eugene and Sandra Meyer, Sue Wells.
Wayne is survived by his wife Sally Wood Meyer. They were married on December 29, 1986.
Children: Kevin Meyer (Rachel), Eric Meyer, James Meyer, Melissa Turner and Shelley Dowell (Jesse)
10 grandchildren: Kaila Thompson, Cory Brown, Craig Brown, Stephanie Bruce, Sarah Meyer, Jillian Hardy, Emily Meyer, Logan Brown, Lillian Brown and Mikayla Meyer
7 great grandchildren: Corbin Farmer, Azelia Thompson, Aiden Bruce, Weston Bruce, Albert Burnett IV, Oakley McKenzie and Alani Brown
Sisters: Nolene Kimmy, Linda Pack, Tina Duncan and Kathy Wattson
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:30 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM on Thursday. Burial with military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. All times are central.
