Ricky W. Whitten, 61, of Hammond, Indiana passed away, surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He was born Friday, January 12, 1962 in East Chicago, Illinois to the late Marvedene Doolin Tate. Ricky enjoyed his time outdoors, fishing, camping and riding bicycles. In his past-time he enjoyed collecting coins. His greatest passion was spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Aside from his mother he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Tate and brother, William Whitten.
Ricky leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters, Tabatha (Ed) Kretchmer of Winamac, Indiana and Tiffany (Jay) Kretchmer of North Judson, Indiana; companion, Diana Kretchmer of North Judson, Indiana; brother, Brian (Pamela) Whitten of Owensboro; three grandchildren and nephew, Brian Michael Dean Whitten of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be at 6 PM Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox, Indiana with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating. Friends may visit with Ricky’s family from 3 PM until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fordsville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:30 until the time of the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
