Louise Drane Drake, age 87 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away May 11, 2023 at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility. She was born in Buras, KY on July 5, 1935, daughter of the late John and Carrie Lee Dowell Drane. Louise and her late husband Roy attended Rosetta United Methodist Church and Stinnettsville Community Church while living in the Rosetta area. Several years later, they moved to the Garfield community and attended Garfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals, listening to gospel and old country music and watching westerns. Louise and Roy raised a very large garden and shared their bounty with neighbors and family. Several years ago, they traveled out west to visit their son – a 25 day trip, where they saw many sights while touring the United States. They were like two peas in a pod, until dementia altered their lives and changed the path to their golden years. Louise was a homemaker and farmer. She raised a tobacco crop – from getting the patch ready to hanging in the barn. Louise had a mothering type nature and would provide care to all those she loved and who needed her. She was a breast cancer survivor, but unfortunately not dementia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Drake; son Ronnie Drake and siblings Evelyn Royalty, Ann Henning, Irvin D. Drane, Kenneth Drane and Randolph Drane.
Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Ray and Amber Drake of Hubbard, Oregon
2 grandchildren: Carrie Drake and Scottie (Mallory) Drake
several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12 PM with burial in the Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
