Phyllis “Darlene” Wells, 65, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Daviess County on September 7, 1953 to the late Phillip Mullen. Darlene was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and was employed at Culp QC as a mortgage auditor.
Darlene was thoughtful & giving. She was always thinking of others first, ready to help those in need. Her kindness and empathy were felt by her friends when she appeared by their side to give them support & love during trying times.
Darlene was a wonderful cook, with “comfort food” her specialty. She always made enough to share with lucky friends. Sitting in her backyard, her enjoyment of plants and gardening was evident. She enjoyed spending time with her biggest joy, Leah. Watching her with her dog Penny, you could see the love Darlene had for her.
Darlene is survived by her son, Phillip Evans and granddaughter, Leah Evans. She was dedicated, loving, and a proud mother and doting grandmother.
Services will be 12:00 pm Thursday, January 3, 2018 at St. Stephen Cathedral, with Father Jerry Riney officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again from 10:30 am to 11:30 am Thursday at the funeral home.
