Joyce Oneida Smiley, age 83 of Harned, KY passed away March 27, 2023 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hardin County on September 6, 1939, daughter of the late Genevieve Hodges and Shelby Dillard Prather. Oneida retired as the Human Resources Director for Murphy’s Department Store. She was a member of Kingswood Wesleyan Church where she was the former choir director and Sunday school teacher. She and her late husband had a love of music and performed at many churches and functions. She enjoyed crafts, working puzzles and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Randall Smiley, sisters Genevieve Masters and Helen Juett and brother Bobby Prather.
Oneida is survived by 3 sons – Daniel Wood (Debra) of Falling Waters, WV; Kenneth Wood of Iowa and Tim Wood (Desiree) of Kaiser Slauten, Germany
3 stepchildren: Tammie Joyner (Rusty) of Brandenburg, KY; Lecia Carroll (Larry) of Flaherty, KY and Randy Smiley (Stacie) of Rineyville, KY
several grandchildren and great grandchildren
5 brothers: Shelby “Buss” Prather of Florida; Floyd Prather and Harold Ray Prather of Elizabethtown, KY; Leroy Prather and Ralph Prather of Vine Grove, KY
1 sister: Ramona Davidson of Radcliff, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 1 PM with burial in the Kingswood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 3:30 – 8 PM and Friday after 8:30 AM. All times are central.
