Mary Alice Stallings Higdon

December 31, 1931 - December 7, 2018

Mary Alice Stallings Higdon, 86 of Owensboro, passed away on Dec. 7, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mary Alice was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Waterflow, New Mexico to the late Legora “L.T.” Stallings and Alice Bertha Massey Stallings. She retired as a Registered Nurse after 25 years of service working in the Coronary Care Department for Owensboro – Daviess County Hospital.

She was a member of St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul.
Mary Alice was a talented Potter, and owned a Kiln at her home. She also was a highly skilled seamstress loved making clothes and doing upholstery. In her younger years Mary Alice was a beautician. She loved interior design, working with her flowers, but most of all she dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.

She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Finton, Mary Olive, Levina, Cecilia, Madeline, Virginia, Michael, Aloysius, L.T. “Junior”, and Agnes Marie.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gene Higdon; three children, Mary Jean (David) Whitledge, of Evansville, IN, Dan (Patricia) Higdon of Palm City, FL., and Lisa (Lou) Menetrey of Bowling Green, KY; five grandchildren, Adam Whitledge, Corinne Higdon, Paul Higdon, Louis Menetrey and Melissa Menetrey; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Prayers will be said at 6:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
