Freida Beck Ross, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Muhlenburg County to the late Henry and Lorena Welborn Beck.
Mrs. Ross was a 1948 graduate of Drakesboro High School. She began her career at General Electric/MPD in 1950 and retired after forty-three years of service. Freida was a long-time and active member of Owensboro Christian Church. She and Charles enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with family. Mrs. Ross also liked to play cards with friends, sew and keep up with friends on Facebook. She was a mother figure not only to her own children but also to her nieces and nephews. Freida’s kind heart, advice and wisdom will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Beck, Jr., Bobby Beck and Darrel Beck.
Mrs. Ross is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles T. Ross; children, Vicki Ross Riley of Owensboro and Jeff Ross (Beth) of Canton, Mississippi; a grandson, Steven Patrick Riley (Alexandria); great-grandson, Phillip Dulay-Swickard; a sister, Betty Beck Hawkins; a brother, Jimmy Beck; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Friday, December 7 at the funeral home. The committal service and burial will be 2:30 PM Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
