Rebecca Lee Materson Smith, 68, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away in the comforts of her home on Friday, December 9, 2022. She was born September 23, 1954, in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Douglas E. Materson, Sr. and Ruby Nell Brackin Masterson.
Rebecca was a Sunday School teacher at Eaton Memorial, a faithful choir member, and a dedicated member of several church committees. She was a great woman who loved her life, family, and her dog, Max, who was like family. Rebecca dedicated her time on Earth serving her church and the Lord.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Joseph Wayne Masterson and John Michael Masterson.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, William E. “Bill” Smith; children, James (Connie) Masterson, Ben (Summer) Cottrell, Elizabeth Cottrell Higdon, Douglas Masterson, Jonathon (Michaella) Masterson, and Brian “Rich” Masterson; 20 grandchildren; and siblings, Douglas E. (Patsy) Masterson.
Services will be 11:00 am on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Eaton Memorial Church. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service at Eaton Memorial Church.
