Betty Ruth (Bailey) Seymour, 80, of Owensboro, died at 5 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at home in the presence of her daughter after a brief illness. She was born on February 17, 1942 in Goshen, Indiana, to Chancey LeRoy and Winnie (Cobbum) Bailey. On October 6, 1983 in Toledo, Ohio, she married David “Mike” Seymour who preceded her in death in 2020. As well, her son, Jeffery Allen Weaver, preceded her in 2018.
Betty lived most of her life in LaGrange County, IN and graduated Shipshewana High School, Class of 1960. For a brief period of time in the 1960s, Betty and husband, Ronald A. Weaver of White Pigeon, MI, lived in St. Petersburg, FL, with their two children, but returned to LaGrange County in 1970. Betty worked many years in manufactured housing as a final finish inspector and later driving an escort vehicle for housing transport. Her final working years were as a bank teller in Middlebury, IN. Betty loved Amish cooking and Essenhaus fried chicken. Mostly she treasured spending time on her one acre hill on the County Line Road. She appreciated the view of the trees and leaves and the changing of the seasons there.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Maurine Weaver, Owensboro; her stepson, David, Jr. (Becky) Seymour of Jackson, MI and his daughter, Tricia L. Seymour of Charlotte, MI; sister, Bonnie (Robert) Domer of Desert Hot Springs, CA; and brother, Roland (Susie) Bailey of LaGrange, IN.
The family will be holding a private funeral service. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
