Barbara Davidson Tichenor

Barbara Davidson Tichenor, 72, of Owensboro passed away November 1, 2018 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Nashville, TN to the late James Robert “JR” and Sarah Helen Davidson. Almost everywhere she went, Barbara would come across someone whose life she had influenced having been a longtime teacher, a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. Barbara taught in the Owensboro Catholic schools for 37 years. She enjoyed cooking for family dinners and visiting with her lifelong friends, “the bracelet girls.” As a devoted ACES fan, she loved spending Friday nights watching Catholic High football with her husband, Ed.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sally Davidson Marshall, and her brother, James Robert Davidson, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Edward Tichenor; two daughters, Sarah (Cecil) Winters, Sandra (Matthew) Carrico, and one son Joseph (Jessica) Tichenor all of Owensboro; three grandchildren Hannah and Madison Mulligan and Claire Tichenor; sisters Peggy (Harry) Bellew, Julia Newton, Nora (Jesse) Mattingly all of Owensboro, Mary “Sissy” (David) Dunbar of South Carolina and Jane (Jim) Bickett of Morganfield; sister in law Carol Davidson and brother in law Leland Marshall both of Owensboro; several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12:00p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Joseph’s Peace Mission and Yewell Boys’ Home.
