Stephen Thomas Houston was born in Owensboro on October 30, 1952 to Mary Virginia Duke Houston and Joe R. Houston. Stephen left this Earth on October 30, 2018 on his 66th birthday. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Green River Steel Corp. where he was a member of the U.S. Steelworkers Union. He graduated from Owensboro High School and was a huge football fan especially for Kentucky Wildcats and enjoyed watching basketball and baseball. Steve also loved following local high school sports and outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. He was a supporter of his children and their athletic endeavors. He will be greatly missed.
Stephen was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Houston Sanford and his parents, Mary Virginia and Joe Houston.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marcia Robertson Houston; three children, Todd Aaron Houston (Erica) and Clay Thomas Houston, both of Owensboro; and Stephanie Houston Woodlee (Bryan) of Nashville; two granddaughters, Hadley Grace and Emerson Claire Houston, both of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
