
Ballard Huston DeHaven, Jr., age 78 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away July 5,2022 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Louisville on November 16, 1943, son of the late Dorothy Wright DeHaven and Ballard Huston DeHaven, Sr. Huston was a lifelong member of Hardinsburg United Methodist Church and served in many roles during his membership there.
Huston graduated from Breckinridge County High School in 1961 and then completed his college education at Western Kentucky University in 1965. He served as a Sgt. E-5 in the United States Army in Vietnam as a radio operator from 1966 – 1968. He was a retired educator, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent for the Breckinridge County School System. Huston entertained us as color commentator, known as The Sports Voice of Breckinridge County for 46 years. He served on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control. He was also a cattle farmer on the family farm.
Huston loved drag racing, golf, Breckinridge County High School Sports and University of Kentucky Sports. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and delighted in watching his grandchildren perform.
Huston is survived by his wife Tabitha ‘Tabby’ Carrigan DeHaven, his daughter Lisa (Mark) Galloway, his son Rob (Erin) DeHaven and his 4 grandchildren Cole Galloway, Reese, Elli and Max DeHaven. He will be deeply missed by all those he knew and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 2 PM. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, 4-8 PM and Sunday 12 – 2 PM.
