William “Jake” Thompson, age 82 of McDaniels, KY passed away March 26, 2022 at Brandenburg Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born in Louisville, KY on October 23, 1939, son of the late William A. and G. Verbal Jarboe Thompson. Jake was a member of McDaniels Antioch United Methodist Church, a Mason and a veteran of the United States Navy and Army Reserves. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Jake’s Rough River Archery. He was a retired supervisor for Bosch. Jake was a member of NRA, National Field Archery Association, Archery Trade Association and a 4-H shooting sports coach. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and precious time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Ernie Thompson.

4 grandchildren: Jaclyn Whitfill, Will Thompson, Samantha Ratliff and Darian Thompson
3 great grandchildren: Ayla Whitfill, Eli Jakob Thompson and Gabriel Ratliff
2 step great grandchildren: James and Wyllo Ratliff
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the McDaniels Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 4-8 PM and Wednesday after 8:30 AM.
