
Benjamin Houston “Ben” Monarch, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Owensboro, KY on August 24, 1937 to the late George Edward Monarch and Jane Lightfoot. Ben was a member of Hardinsburg United Methodist Church and Sunday School Teacher. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and retired civil engineer with US Army Corps of Engineers. After Ben’s retirement from the US Army Corps of Engineers, he began working with PDR Engineers, Inc. of Lexington in 1990 as an on-site construction inspector providing inspection services for numerous projects for the City of Hardinsburg and the City of Cloverport. Ben provided inspection services for many water system and sanitary sewer system expansion projects for both cities working for PDR Engineers, Tetra Tech, Inc., O’Brien & Gere Engineers and finally Kentucky Engineering Group, PLLC. One of the largest projects for the City of Hardinsburg was the city’s new reverse osmosis water treatment plant completed in 2007. Ben continued to provide inspection services for Kentucky Engineering Group until the end of 2011. He was a longtime member of the Hardinsburg Rotary Club, as well as a member of Breckinridge County Health Board and Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Board.
Ben was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Henkebein Monarch; sister, Ann Monarch Huntsman and brothers, George E. Monarch II and John “Jack” Monarch.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Laslie Morris Monarch of Hardinsburg
Daughter: Patti Morris Robbins (Dr. Rick) of Hardinsburg
He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church.
Visitation on Friday from 10-1 at the church
Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery
