David “Gayle” Givens, 93, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Wellington Parc. He was born February 11, 1929, in McHenry, Kentucky to the late Harry Conrad “Connie” Givens and Violet “Loray” Ward Givens. Mr. Givens retired from Peabody Coal Company and was a member of UMWA Local 8941. He was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Lewis Givens; granddaughter, Joy Clubb and sister, Nancy Wylene Patton.
He leaves behind to treasure many memories, two sons, Mark (Cecelia) Givens of Graniteville, South Carolina and Stephen Givens of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Holly Locken (Robert Parker) of Paducah; four grandchildren, Dr. Erica Givens (Dr. Sam Beckerman), Jacob (Amela) Prewitt, Peter Locken (Lindsey) and Amy (Richard) Sowell and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Darius.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 18, 2022, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Kenneth Spurrier officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Givens’ family from 10 AM until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
