The Daviess County Conservation District gave away thousands of tree seedlings Thursday at Yellow Creek Park as part of its annual Arbor Day celebration. The event began at 8 a.m. and continued until supplies ran out, drawing a steady crowd of residents eager to take home native trees.
More than 3,000 seedlings were available, with a limit of 10 per person. Tree varieties included Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, Cypress, Pecan, Persimmon, Black Cherry, Black Walnut, Yellow-Poplar, White Oak, and White Pine.
