After more than two decades leading the Daviess County High School girls’ soccer program, David Sandifer has been named the school’s next athletic director.

Sandifer will officially begin his new role on July 1. He replaces the position with a wealth of experience and a reputation for student-centered leadership, having served as head coach for 23 years and guiding the soccer program to more than 300 wins, nine regional championships, and three Final Four appearances.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve Daviess County High School in my new role as Athletic Director,” Sandifer said. “I look forward to working with exceptional coaches and student-athletes to continue moving our athletic department forward.”

Under his leadership, the Panthers posted a 312-157-33 record and earned him honors such as the 2017 Kentucky Girls High School Soccer Coaches Association and National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year.

“Coach Sandifer is an excellent choice to lead DC Athletics,” said Principal Jeff Wethington. “His resume as a head soccer coach speaks for itself. David has been a players-first coach and will continue to place the student first when making decisions as AD.”

Wethington added that the two have emphasized improving fan and student experiences at sporting events throughout this school year.

“David also understands how to support head coaches. His leadership will be centered on organization, planning, and intentionality,” Wethington said.

As athletic director, Sandifer will oversee all aspects of the school’s sports programs, including equipment management, budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with KHSAA regulations.
