Update: Due to the existing lines, the sandbag operation will be closed immediately for new arrivals. Those not already in line are asked to avoid driving to Panther Creek Park. The existing line will extend past the closing time of 2 p.m.

The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency will offer a self-filling sandbag station at Panther Creek Park today. Sandbags will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each household is limited to 100 sandbags. Proof of Daviess County residency is required via a driver’s license and a mailed bill or statement with a matching address.

Shovels, sand, and bags will be provided. Some volunteers may be available, but residents should expect to fill their own sandbags. Residents are asked to take only as many sandbags as needed to protect their home or business.

Daviess County EMA distributed 6,358 sandbags on Tuesday, with the evening pickup extending past midnight. Approximately 120 tons of sand were utilized.

For questions, contact the EMA office at 270-685-8448. Panther Creek Park is located at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road on the west side of Owensboro.
