One person was seriously injured and another arrested on a DUI charge following a crash Saturday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
A release from OPD says that officers responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection of KY 331 (West 2nd Street) and Industrial Drive on March 29. The arrest citation shows the incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the driver of a passenger vehicle unconscious and suffering from significant bleeding, authorities said.
Officers rendered lifesaving aid until the Owensboro Fire Department arrived to extract the individual from the vehicle, according to OPD. AMR personnel transported the victim to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital before they were transferred to a Louisville-area hospital for further treatment, the release says. Police said the individual was last reported in critical but stable condition.
Officers determined that the driver of the second vehicle, 64-year-old Bruce Bolling, of Owensboro, was under the influence at the time of the crash.
Bolling was taken to the hospital for precautionary medical treatment and testing before being lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on the charge of first-offense DUI with aggravated circumstances.
Jail records show Bolling was booked into DCCD at approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 30. Court records show he was released the same day on a $5,000 cash bond. His arraignment is scheduled for April 16.
