Here’s the latest on which school systems in the area have announced updates regarding closures, NTI days, or in-person classes for Thursday.

Daviess County Public Schools

Daviess County Public Schools will use an NTI Day on Thursday. The message posted on the DCPS Facebook page reads as follows:

DCPS Families,

We loved having our schools full of students (over 93% attendance) the past two days and having in-person learning take place. We do our best to have in-person learning when possible, as it provides the best environment for our students.

The Green and Ohio Rivers are cresting and flooding in our community is increasing. This will impact more of our students. Therefore, DCPS schools will be closed for in-person learning on Thursday, April 10, 2025. This will be a DCPS@Home Day #8. Our thoughts and prayers are with all families impacted by the flooding. It was our hope that we could continue to provide normalcy for our students and keep our schools open, but unfortunately, conditions will not allow it.

Elementary students will log in with their teacher on Google Meet at 9 a.m., refer to their pre-printed packets, or visit www.dcps.org/athome for their DAY #8 assignments. Middle and high school students will follow the Google Meet schedule provided by their teachers. Assignments for DAY #8 are posted at www.dcps.org/athome.

Hancock County Public Schools

Earlier this week, HCPS announced that the district would be using NTI Days for the rest of the week:

Hancock County Schools will be closed for in-person instruction for the rest of the week starting tomorrow Tuesday, April 8th, 2025. The National Weather Service has predicted the flood levels will continue to rise throughout the week, with an expected crest sometime Thursday morning. The predicted levels will rival those of the 1997 flood. We will be utilizing our Disaster Relief NTI Days that were approved in the last legislative session. We will be using Disaster Relief NTI Day 11, 12, 13, and 14. Stay safe!

Hancock Christian Academy

Earlier this week, HCA announced they plan to be in session the rest of the week:

Heads up, HCA families!

While the local public school district will be using NTI (non-traditional instruction) days for the remainder of the week (April 8-11, 2025), HCA will remain in session with our regular schedule.

Please plan accordingly and reach out if you have any questions. We will reassess things if need be. We look forward to seeing everyone in class!

McLean County Public Schools

MCPS will be closed for the rest of the week and will not use NTI Days. The following announcement was made on the district Facebook page:

McLean County Schools will be closed the remainder of this week due to the increased forecast of the flood level to 36 feet. No NTI days the rest of this week. We will send a call out Sunday afternoon to inform you of school plans for Monday. Please stay safe.
