Due to the potential of severe storms locally on April 4, the weekly noon storm siren test scheduled for Friday has been canceled by the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency. Residents should seek shelter if they hear the sirens, as this would not be a test.
Daviess County has approximately 60 outdoor warning sirens that alert to approaching severe weather. Each siren covers approximately a one-mile radius and is meant to warn those outside to seek shelter indoors.
Storm sirens are designed to be heard outdoors only. The best method of warning for those indoors is an All-Hazards NOAA Weather Radio, followed by updates available via official weather services or through local media.
