The Checkmarks initiative has partnered with the Daviess County Public Library to expand the Baby Bundle program, aiming to provide free books and early learning tools to more families across the county.
The Baby Bundles, designed for children ages 0-36 months, are curated to spark curiosity, strengthen caregiver-child connections, and encourage early literacy. Each bundle includes a board book, an interactive craft, literacy resources, and a Baby Bundle Booklet offering guidance on using the materials to support development.
Previously only available at the library, the monthly themed bundles will now be distributed through partners including the H.L. Neblett Center, The Center, Killian’s Child Development Center, and West End Day Care.
“The goal of the Baby Bundles program is to provide early literacy resources and a free book to families of young children ages 0–36 months in Daviess County,” said Taryn Norris, children’s librarian at DCPL. “With this program, DCPL hopes to equip parents and caregivers with tools for child development and foster a sense of lifelong learning in their child. With the help of PLFO, we are now able to reach more families than ever before by expanding to bring Baby Bundles to our outreach sites, like the H.L. Neblett Center.”
The expansion aligns with Checkmarks’ broader mission to provide foundational early childhood development resources by meeting families where they already gather, helping remove barriers to access.
“Strong early learning environments begin at home. The latest research indicates that crucial windows for brain development begin within the first three years of a child’s life. When families read and encourage learning together, their children will have a stronger start kindergarten and beyond,” said Joe Berry, executive director of the Public Life Foundation. “The Baby Book Bundle program is an excellent resource for parents and families in our community, and when the opportunity arose to partner with the Library to expand the program to reach more families, it was a natural fit for the Public Life Foundation and our Checkmarks initiative.”
