Visit Owensboro, in partnership with Baird Private Wealth Management, has announced that nearly 40 distilleries will be participating in the bourbon tasting portion of BBQ and Barrels on May 10 at the Owensboro Convention Center.
The event will showcase some of the nation’s most renowned distilleries — including Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark, and Angel’s Envy — alongside emerging names such as Silk Velvet and Fresh Bourbon.
“You’re going to see some brand favorites along with some brands you have yet to discover,” said Dave Kirk, with Visit Owensboro. “BBQ and Barrels is the perfect opportunity to enjoy world-class BBQ and Kentucky’s finest spirit.”
The bourbon tasting event will feature a VIP hour beginning at 3 p.m., followed by general admission at 4 p.m. VIP tickets are $120 and include special pours and BBQ samples. According to organizers, distilleries with proper paperwork will also be allowed to sell bottles onsite, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase rare selections not commonly found in stores.

The weekend’s festivities also include several high-end bourbon and culinary events:
- Smoke and Oak: A dinner and bourbon pairing at Lure Seafood and Grille on May 8. Very limited tickets are available by calling Lure directly.
- Birdies, Bourbon and BBQ: A golf fundraising event at the Owensboro Country Club on May 9 benefiting Fight Like a Dozer, which helps families facing childhood cancer-related expenses.
- Green River Distilling Dinner: A cocktail and dinner pairing at $145 per person on May 9.
Additionally, three bourbon education classes will be held at 2 p.m. on May 10 at the Convention Center. Tickets are $25 and feature speakers including Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott, Buffalo Trace’s Freddie Johnson, and representatives from Green River Distilling Company.
