Ross Milburn threw a complete game shutout with six strikeouts to fuel the Eagles past the Aces 6-0. He also finished 3-4 at the plate, while Ryleigh Logan went 4-4 with two RBIs. Garrett Lanham and William Wilkins both drove in runs, while Jagger Pate and Grayson Smith both scored.
“Ross had another incredible performance for us tonight,” Apollo head coach Brandon Dennis said. “He was as sharp as we have seen him this year, and that is saying a lot because he has had several strong outings for us this season. We just have to bring a consistent focus and energy to the park day in and day out. We have proven that we can play with anyone on our schedule at this point; we just have to strive for more consistency.”
For the Aces, Barrett Evans and Jaxson White had the team’s lone hits. White was the starting pitcher, allowing two earned runs over 4 2/3 innings, while Gentry Atwell pitched in relief.
Butler County 14, Trinity (Whitesville) 3
RJ Cecil finished 2-3, and Isaac Hernandez drove in a run in the Raiders’ 14-3 loss to Butler County. Connor Hatfield went 1-2, while Grant Howard scored. Hatfield allowed nine earned runs over four innings, while Howard pitched the fifth.
