Owensboro tennis swept Meade County, while Hancock County split with Ohio County. In other weekend action, Owensboro Catholic held their own in a tournament.

Hancock County split with Ohio County

Hancock County’s boys’ team beat Ohio County 3-2, while the girls lost 5-0. For the Hornets, Lucas Anderson won his singles match 8-2, while the doubles teams of Alex Madden and Tyce Boiling and Preston Blanton and Caleb Ewing both won (9-8, 8-2).

Owensboro Vs. Meade County

It was a successful day for Owensboro tennis, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams beat Meade County 4-1 and 3-2. For the Lady Devils, Alexandra Cecil and Anna Travis won their singles matches, while the doubles team of Addie Travis and Whitley Ford came out on top 6-1, 6-0. For the Red Devils, John Clay Ford and Cash Moorman both won their singles matches, while the doubles teams of Walker Gaddis and Miles McDaniel and Andrew Diebel and Broderick Divine both won.

Owensboro Catholic competes in Match Madness Tennis Tournament

This past weekend the Aces and Lady Aces competed in the Match Madness Tennis Tournament in Bowling Green, both finishing 1-2. The boys beat Corbin 4-1 and lost to Louisville Manual 4-1 and Lexington Dunbar 3-2. Against Corbin, Ben Haines and JW Wathen won their singles matches, while the doubles team of Henry Haines and Luke Pfeifer emerged victorious.

For the girls’, they beat Oldham County 5-0 and lost to Henry Clay 3-2 and Paducah Tilghman 3-2. Against Oldham County, Ella Cason, Madison Clark, and Lexie Moyer all won their singles matches, while the doubles teams of Merideth Traylor and Sophia Merchant and Paige Hamilton and Reagan Hamilton both won. Cason finished the day 3-0 in singles, while Moyer went 2-0 in her singles.

“We continue to improve as we played some really good competition over the two days,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Noel Clayton said. “We are very young overall, and it was great experience.”
